November Beacon from our Pastor

“The Apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!’’  Luke 17:5

A pastor entered the pulpit and began his message with these words, “I’ve stopped expecting you to make leaps of faith, but it would be nice to see a hop now and then.”

Do you find those words of frustration very motivating? Are you growing in faith? Do you want to be?

We are planning for and experiencing some changes taking place at Redeemer. An expensive roof replacement is underway as these words are being written. Plans are being made to upgrade the foyer, and a new sound system was recently installed.

Faithful giving has made these and other ‘projects’ possible. Thank you to those who so generously contribute to needed changes in our church. I believe these improvements are tied to our faith in the Lord.

Our faith must also be made known as we deal with another issue. A new church constitution is being presented to the congregation for consideration. Related messages will be given at the end of October and the first two Sundays in November. A meal will be offered after the service on November 9th. An open forum for discussion will follow the meal.

The major change in the constitution involves a proposal to incorporate Biblical Eldership. This means that an elder board would replace our current church council.

I trust that you have read or will read the proposed constitution. Please come to the worship services, the meal, and the discussion. The church leadership wants to honor the Lord with this process. We need His wisdom for this task. Like the apostles, we must cry out to Him, ‘Increase our faith!’
