“Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.” I Chron. 16:11
God miraculously freed Israel from Egyptian bondage. His powerful work did not end there as he enabled them to conquer the Promised Land. The book of Joshua describes how this happened. In Joshua 6 we learn of how God delivered Jericho into the hands of the Israelites. God’s people were to march around the city once with all their armed men. This was to be done for six days. On the seventh day, they were to march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. All the people would then give a loud shout and the wall of the city would collapse. And that is what happened!
Could that happen again? Operation Jericho is scheduled to take place in the Twin Cities from September 11-17, 2011. The vision of this effort is: To UNITE as the Body of Christ and RE-CLAIM the Twin Cities for the Lord! For seven days Christians from all denominations will be coming together for one purpose: UNITY!
OPERATION JERICHO will kickoff on 9/11 with a community-wide prayer gathering at the U of M Northrop Mall. Over the next 7 days the Twin Cities will be saturated with 24-hour prayer. Then, on day 7, Christians will move, circling the Twin Cities in different ways on: Foot; Bikes; Automobiles; Motorcycles; Airplanes and Helicopters. All will circle in PRAYER!
After the circles are completed, a gathering will take place on the steps of our State Capitol. Worship and prayer will precede seven trumpet blasts and a shout from God’s people. For more details visit: www.TheJerichoMovement.net
Redeemer will participate in this effort by being a ‘start and stopping’ point on the 494/694 corridor for walkers, runners, or bikers. We will also have a prayer emphasis on Wednesday night during our Bible Study from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Prayer is good. Unity is good. We have much to bring to the Lord as we seek his strength and his face. Walls may come down. Lives may be changed. May this be a call to prayer in your life. Seek him and pray for his will to be done.
